I attended UNC-Wilmington for part of my college career, but part of being a military wife involved being flexible and moving.  Due to a move, I completed my degree at Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania.

I have also been through the National Board Certification process and am a Nationally Board Certified teacher.  On October 24, 2015, I learned that my recertification process had been successfully completed and I will continue to be a Nationally Board Certified teacher.

I earned my Reading Master's Program through East Carolina University in May 2016.

After graduating from Clarion University, I spent the remainder of my time in Pennsylvania working with adults as an assisted living case manager.  It was a wonderful learning experience to work with a wide range of exceptional people.

Once we received military orders back to Jacksonville, I was fortunate enough to get a job working at Southwest Elementary.  Since 1996, I have been at this school and have worked with kindergarten through fifth grade.  Every grade has been interesting and had something special to offer.

This year my concentration will be on working with our third and fourth grade exceptional children.

I was born at Camp Lejeune and have had a strong connection to the Marine Corps ever since.    After high school, I followed in my father's footsteps and became a Marine.  That career was cut short after a knee injury, but something wonderful came out of that time.

I met my husband of the past twenty nine years during my military service and have thoroughly enjoyed being married to him.  We were very fortunate and had a wonderful son who is currently a United States Marine stationed here in North Carolina.  We consider ourselves very lucky in the life that we have together.
